I love drinking green tea, as well as using it in my hair regimen. One of my favorite green teas is Yogi Super Antioxidant Green Tea, which has quite a few hair and scalp friendly herbs in it (lemongrass, green tea leaf, licorice root, jasmine green tea leaf, alfalfa leaf, burdock root, dandelion root, grapeseed extract, irish moss powder, amla fruit extract).
I use green tea as a rinse or as a spritz. The following recipes are really simple.
- Rinse: I use green tea as a rinse after co-washes and shampooing. Boil 2 green tea bags with 2 cups of water, and let cool. Pour green tea through hair. Leave in or rinse out after 20-30 minutes.
- Spritz: Boil 1 tea bag in a cup of water. Add about 2 oz. or 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel, let cool. Transfer to spritz bottle, refrigerate after using. If you want your spritz thinner, add more water. Thicker? Add more aloe vera gel. This usually lasts about a week and is a great refresher and moisturizer throughout the day. Again, keep spritz refrigerated.
