  • Removes tangles and snarls
  • Mends split ends
  • Safe for color treated hair
  • Leaves no oily build-up or residue

Salon quality conditioners allow you to get salon results at home. Fortified with natural botanicals and protein, Salon Care Conditioner mends split ends and increases strength of dry, damaged hair. It removes tangles and snarls making combing and styling easier on hair and gentle enough for even color-treated hair. No oily build-up to weigh hair down. Just beautiful, soft hair.

Other Types Available:  Apple Pear, Raspberry, Luscious Kiwi, Cherry, Passion Fruit, White Tea & Ginger.

My Take:  This gallon equals to about 8 (16 oz.) bottles of conditioner at about $1.06 each.  Ingredients are not organic or natural, but compares to the cheap over-the-counter conditioners (Suave, V05).  Hey, with this Michigan winter storm weather, I’m guaranteed not to run out of a conditioner wash for a while.

Don’t forget the pump that comes with the conditioner like I did.  I had to transfer some in an empty, clean jar.  As always, adding oils like castor, coconut, and olive only enhances conditioning.  By doing this, I’m able to switch it up and use this as a conditioner wash, leave-in, and deep conditioner.

A New Year’s Resolution To Keep

This will be my first New Year’s Resolution in a long, long time.  I generally never make them, but upon reflecting back on 2008, I realize I need to make just this one.  As a nurturer by nature, I neglect myself.  A LOT.  I put myself last.  A LOT.  I carry other’s burdens.  A LOT.  I’m the designated surrogate mother.  I give ALL of myself and my family expects nothing less.  It’s what they’re used to.  It’s what I do. sunclipart1

My wake-up moment?  No one ever calls or asks how I’m doing.  EVER.  Dayum.  That hurts, but I did it to myself.  A change is gonna come in 2009.

Why?  Because I have needs too.  I need to vent too.  I hurt too.  I need help too.  I’m stressed out too.  I’m broke too.  I have relationship problems too.  I feel alone too.  I need a break too.  I’m worried too.  I’m pissed too.  I’m sick too.  My kids get on my nerves too.  I need someone to listen to me too.  My life matters too.  REALLYIT DOES.

My New Year’s resolution?  Simply to start living lifeFOR ME.  I’ll still be there, but at those times when I’m conveniently unavailable to listen, the answering machine will.  Leave a message.  I may or may not get back to you.  Don’t be alarmed though.  I’m probably out doing something I haven’t done for a while.  Taking time out.  FOR ME.   To live MY life.  FOR ME.

Budget Friendly Products for Skin & Hair

Periodically, I will list budget friendly products (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.).  This is especially helpful for transitioners or those on a budget (like me).  With this economy, finding ways to save is a must for many households, including mine.

All products will be $10.00 or less, available both over-the-counter and online.

Stay tuned.

PRODUCT REVIEW UPDATE: DONNA MARIE PRODUCTS

Just an update to let those interested in Donna Marie products how well these products are still performing.  I’m able to maintain a low-maintenance, low manipulation routine with second and third day hair by using these products.  I don’t need to use a lot of the product to get the job done.  The ingredients are hair and skin friendly.  My faves are the Ultimate Slip Detangler, Lock & Twist Pudding, and Coco Hemp Buttercream.

The Ultimate Slip Detangler is my perfect moisturizing wash and go product, but not so much a detangler for my hair.  I don’t get much slip using this as a detangler, but the trade-off has been my hair that stays moisturized for days.  I love that I can achieve second and third day hair by using this product alone.  Will also be perfect for summer wash and gos.

The Coco Hemp Buttercream is amazing.  Similar to my homemade shealoe mix, but not as heavy.  Used with the Ultimate Slip Detangler or under the Lock & Twist Pudding, it gives me hair with shine, softness, and moisture.  I also get shrinkage with it, but not a problem for me.  Again, able to achieve second and third day hair.   The Coco Hemp Buttercream is also a great dry/wet hair moisturizer/refresher.

Lock & Twist Pudding is an excellent styler for my fine 4a hair.  I haven’t tried it on twists yet (I rarely do twists unless they’re fat bedtime twists).  Using it over either the Ultimate Slip Detangler or Coco Hemp Buttercream gives me hair that is touchable with a light hold.  I only need to spritz with water to refresh hair the next day.

The Honey & Aloe Curling Jelly is a great product for hair that needs definition and hold, but was too much hold for my fine 4a hair.  My hair is naturally coily, so I really don’t see the purpose of using this other than for smoothing edges or slicking back for ponytails or updos.
