Those with kinky-curly hair will fall in love with Cristophe Beverly Hills Purely Natural Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner, 5.5 oz. and 10 oz. respectively, for $7.99. What I love the most about these products is that they’re free of sulfates, parabens, dyes, and fragrance. A sample size (2 oz.) of this clarifying shampoo and condish (as well as the entire Cristophe Beverly Hills line) are also available at CVS for $2.99 each. Order online or ship in store.
THE EXPERIENCE: First off, this shampoo doesn’t lather much. Clarifying shampoos usually mat and tangle my hair, but to my suprise I experienced none of that upon application. Washing my hair only once, the Cristophe Beverly Hills Clarifying Shampoo did an excellent job of cleansing my hair and scalp. Afterwards, my hair felt soft, light, and had incredible shine. I experienced no scalp dryness or itching afterwards, which is usually the case with most shampoos I purchase. The Christophe Purely Natural condiitioner has a mild vanilla/orange scent. I didn’t get much slip with it, but after rinsing it out, my hair was uber moisturized and soft. I’ve finally found shampoo and conditioner products from the same line that yields equally fantastic results.
THE VERDICT: Will definitely be adding these products to my staples.
Nope. I really wasn’t trying to straighten my hair. I actually bought this conditioner because of a few of its ingredients; honey extract, pear juice, hydrolyzed silk, and dimethicone way at the bottom of the ingredient list. I’m truly a minimalist when it comes to putting things on my hair, butconditioner is the one thing this kinky-curly girl can’t do without.
PRODUCT: Hairveda Moist Condition 24/7, 16 oz., $7.00.
PURCHASED AT: Hairveda Online Shoppe
APPLICATION: After rinsing hair with warm water, I applied handful of Moist Condition 24/7. What I immediately noticed about this conditioner was how smooth my hair felt. I usually get serious shrinkage with my conditioner washes, but not so with the Moist Condition 24/7.
This conditioner stretched my curls (see pics above) and allowed me to easily detangle with my fingers. I kept conditioner in for about 20 minutes, then rinsed, leaving a little in.
RESULTS: Hair was light and fluffy, not weighed down, but still defined. No other proucts were added to my hair (see pics above). Red highlighted hair is from previous henna.
VERDICT: It’s a keeper. I wear a wash-n-go daily and this conditioner will be added to my routine. What I like the most about this conditioner is how smooth my hair felt and how it stretched my curls. In addition to that, 16 oz. of conditioner for $7.00 is a steal. I’m really impressed with Hairveda’s products and looking forward to purchasing more hair care products to review.
In my opinion, Hairveda is a great company. The owner, BJ, is personable, approachable, and knowledgeable. Hairveda’s products have good ingredients and deliver exactly what was promised. Check out the Hairveda Online Shoppe for more info about the company and new products available.

PRODUCT: Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Conditioner, Honeyed Pear & Silk, 12 oz., $4.39.
PURCHASED AT: CVS, purchased with CVS ExtraCare card at $2.99.
APPLICATION: After rinsing out overnight shea butter treatment, I thoroughly saturated hair with HE Dangerously Straight conditioner. I can tell how well I’me going to like a conditioner based on how my hair feels once applied. This conditioner immediately made my hair feel very silky, like seaweed. I was then able to detangle with my fingers only. This doesn’t happen for me too often, especially with over-the-counter hair products. After 10 minutes, I rinsed my hair and applied a little conditioner to my hair as a leave in. I applied no other products and allowed my hair to airdry. Note: For those sensitive to smells, this conditioner does have a strong flowery scent.
RESULTS: I’ll be honest and state the results that I obtained with this conditioner is no different than other conditioners I’ve used (Suave, V05), except that I was able to easily detangle my hair with my fingers. My hair was soft, light, and tangle free. I still had the same shrinkage and same curl definition.
***Please note that there was definitely no straightening effects with this conditioner, at least not on this head of hair. Absolutely none. Again, it does have a strong flower scent which did dissipate a little after hair had dried. My hair dried super fast too.
VERDICT: I will be repurchasing this due to its excellent detangling properties and its availability over-the-counter. I do purchase online hair products, but I prefer having product staples that can be purchased over-the-counter. Detangling is my biggest issue since my hair is getting longer, but Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight conditioner has made this issue a lot easier to handle. I’m not crazy about the scent, but with the results obtained, I can live with it.
I’d like to try the Herbal Essences Long-term Relationship, Red Raspberry Satin conditioner because the ingredients are similar to Dangerously Straight. These products don’t have the cyclopentasiloxane in them like the other conditioners. Cyclopentasiloxane in conditoners cause buildup for me, especially when at the top of the ingredient list.
